Dragon Storyweaving Circles

This is a story/real-life adventure in progress. The Archetype of the Eight Direction Medicine Wheel focus on a particular direction imaginatively and practically during each leaf of this unfolding tale.

Some of our adventures:

EAST: Dragons In The Forest

(or, in Welsh: "Draigiau Yn Yr Fforest")

In Forest Halls we enter a realm of music, myth, and magic. Story is real here. Forest Halls is a place of celebration: of the natural world, of our mythic reality, of community, of ourselves, of Spirit. It is a place of joyful discovery, adventuring, and improvisational pageantry.

Dragons have been glimpsed along Forest Halls' horizons this past year. What might they have to tell us! (you might want to consider this gathering as an unfolding tale that we enter and explore together).

So let's listen to the dragons! Here's how we'll do it:

PLEASE BRING a dragon story, or dragon lore, art, song, movement of whatever, inspired by dragons, and we'll weave our own story and dragon honoring out of all of this.

EAST: the direction of Welcome & Blessing ...,

SOUTHEAST: Dragons Over The Village

What if ... dragons have been spotted flying over our Village? And what is the Village of our imagination like anyway? At this circle we'll share what we know or have experienced about dragons: a tale, poem, art, movement, lore, or - whatever! We'll take flight in our imaginations and trek through the woods, and create and tell our own stories about why dragons might fly over the Village, and what happens when they do,

SOUTHEAST: Child's passions, magic & mischief

SOUTH: Dragon Cookery

Dragon Bread

Now we enter the realms of south and fire. We'll invoke a gentle and vital dragonfire in the wood cookstove, Abuela (Spanish for grandmother), with the help of Abuela (who posseses grandmother/ancestor magic) herself. Kitchen knives and wooden spoons will be our percussion instruments. Stirring the soup, chopping the vegetables and grinding the flour will provide our rhythm. We'll sing folk songs, festival songs, rounds, the blues, made-up chants and anything else that springs to mind as we bake bread and make soup for a shared lunch, and create culinary delights to take home. Abuela loves music, and joyful music makes great food!

Along with improvisational music, we'll practice improvisational cookery - scattering edible plants, berries, and herbs that we collect from the forest and garden into our baking, soup, and tea.

What stories are the dragons telling us now?

SOUTH is the direction of focus, work/deep play, fire, passion, snakes, noon, summer ...
